Why Your Brand Needs More Than a Logo

August 28, 2026

A logo is a mark. A brand is everything your business communicates, intentionally or not. Here's what that means in practice.

When most people say they need a "brand," they mean they need a logo. That's not wrong, and a logo is part of it. But stopping there is like buying a door and calling it a house.

Brand Is How You Make People Feel

Every touchpoint your business has with the world is part of your brand: your emails, your proposals, your social posts, how your phone gets answered. The logo is just the most visible piece.

Consistency Is the Work

The hardest part of building a strong brand isn't the design. It's maintaining consistency over time, across every context, even when it's inconvenient. That's where most businesses fall apart.

What to Do Instead

Start with clarity about what you offer, who it's for, and why it matters. Everything else should flow from that clarity, including the colours, the typefaces, and the tone of voice.
